Classic Spritz Cookies

I had intended for these versatile cookies to be pressed out of my Cookie Press but decided on larger cookie cutouts at the last minute... This basic Pampered Chef recipe can have sprinkles added on top or even be decorated with icing. Hope you enjoy these sweet treats as much as we did this weekend.. Love that taste of shortbread.. Mmm BUTTER!:
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Colored sugar, icing or sprinkles (optional)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar on medium speed of electric mixter about 3 minutes or until creamy, scraping down sides as necessary. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Add flour; mix on low speed just until blended, scraping down sides as necessary.
Roll dough or fill cookie press with dough and form into desired shapes. Decorate if you wish and bake 10-12 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool cookies 2 minutes on cookie sheet; remove to cooling rack.
LOVE my Kitchen Aid mixer.. Don't know what I would do without it.
Fun! Dang dough is quite fragile though so be careful :)
