Mother's Day at the Deane House in Fort Calgary!

For Mother's Day this year we surprised my mom with a three course brunch at The Deane House at Fort Calgary which is in Inglewood- 750-9th Avenue S.W. I really enjoyed the pretty gardens and large lot outside of the historical building... My favorite part was the noise level of the restaurant! Although they have been booked solid for two weeks, I was shocked at how quiet the restaurant was and how homey it felt. The Deane House is literally a house with many rooms including a second level and an attic! We were sitting in what would be the actual dining room of the house and really enjoyed the privacy and personable service.

For $26.95 each our brunch included a glass of apple or orange juice, Fresh Fruit Cup, a selection of homemade scones and coffee or tea. The scones were still warm and SO YUMMY!
We could then choose from the entrees of either:
  • Captains Breakfast (classic breakfast... two eggs any style, bacon or sausage etc)
  • 3 different types of Eggs Benedict
  • Spring Frittata
  • Brioche French Toast
  • Toasted Oat and Flax Seed Pancakes
  • 7 oz. Alberta Steak and Eggs
Half of us decided to get the maple smoked ham eggs benedict which was DELICIOUS with thick slices of perfectly cooked ham.
Our only complaint was that the chunky hash browns it came with were like a mine field for peppercorns... Way too many for one small side.

For dessert we had the choice of the following:
  • Warm Chocolate brownie
  • Homemade lemon curd tart
  • Caramel Apple Cheesecake
Half of us went with the brownie and half with the cheesecake... Unfortunately the cheesecake was much too sweet with a layer of butterscotch sauce on the top and even more caramel dribbled over the entire cake... The brownie was a bit bland and I didn't think that the sour cherry compote or black cherry ice cream complimented it very nice.

Besides the dessert we had a great meal and REALLY enjoyed the eggs benedict with the thick slices of ham. The Deane House would be a great venue for a wedding which they do all the time or renting out for a private event. Check out their Mystery Dinner Theater for a fun night out as well!
